Logosport brings Jamaican national B team to Chengdu, China. Logosport organized the
friendly match on Feb 17th between Jamaican national team of local players and the
Chinese Olympic team. It was a historic first trip for a Jamaican national team to
China. The Reggae Boyz who traveled were :
Shawns Sawyers, Ryan Thompson, Nicholi Finlayson, Jermaine Taylor, Alex Thomas, Marlon
Bennet, Shane Crawford, Chistopher Jackson, Lovell Palmer, Neil Thompson, Jermaine Hue,
Lenworth Hyde, Fabian Dawkins, Roen Nelson, Theofore Bennett, Luton Shelton, Richard West,
Kasai Hinds, Weston Forrest, and Seon Givens. The team was coached by Wendell Downswell
and Patrick Walters.
The game was seen live on Television and had more than 16.000 people at the impressive
national stadium in Chengu. The hospitality was superb by the Chinese Football Federation.
The game started well for Jamaica and saw both Jermiane Hue and Richard West denied goals
by the excellent Chinese keeper An Qi. As the game progressed the better organization and height
advantage of the Chinese team saw them score two head goals at the end of the first half.
The second half was exciting and saw Theofore Benett denied a sure goal by An Qui once again.
Shane Crawford and Jermaine Hue were particularly effective in midfield for Jamaica.
The game ended 3-0 for the experienced Chinese team that has not lost a game in 2 years.
For the young Jamaican players, this game was an invaluable experience in international
football.
